Artist
황병익 작가는 1943년 대한민국에서 태어났다. 고교 시절, 연세대학교 철학과 김형석 교수의 저서 『영원과 사랑의 대화』를 읽고 감화를 받아 연세대학교 철학과에 진학했다. 다년간 공무원 생활을 한 후, 자연과 인간 삶의 조화에 대한 관심으로 조경 사업에 종사했다.
Hwang Byung-Ik was born in 1943 in the Republic of Korea. During high school, he was deeply moved by Professor Kim Hyung-seok’s book "Dialogues on Eternity and Love", which led him to study philosophy at Yonsei University. After many years in public service, he entered the field of landscape design, driven by his interest in the harmony between nature and human life.
Sweden
2018년, 75세 생일을 맞아 스웨덴을 방문하던 중 원인 모를 뇌염으로 갑작스럽게 쓰러져 의식을 잃고 중환자실에 입원한 후, 7일째 되는 날 기적적으로 의식을 회복했다.
In 2018, while visiting Sweden for his 75th birthday, he suddenly collapsed due to an unknown encephalitis, lost consciousness, and was admitted to the ICU. On the seventh day, he miraculously regained consciousness.
2018년부터 5년 동안 회복 기간과 코로나19 팬데믹 동안 스웨덴에 머물며 처음으로 손에 붓을 쥐고 그림을 그리기 시작했다. 이 기간 동안 스웨덴 내 여러 도시를 여행하며 150점 이상의 스웨덴 풍경화를 완성했다.
From 2018, during his recovery and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, he remained in Sweden and, for the first time, picked up a brush to start painting. During this time, he traveled through many Swedish cities and completed over 150 landscape paintings.
2023년 한국 귀국을 앞둔 6월 11일, 스톡홀름 필라델피아 컨벤션센터(필라델피아 교회)에서 첫 개인전 "하나님과 스웨덴 친구들을 위한 감사 전시회"를 개최하며, 80세의 나이에 화가로 데뷔했다.
On June 11, 2023, just before returning to Korea, he held his first solo exhibition at the Filadelfia Convention Center (Filadelfiakyrkan) in Stockholm, titled "A Thanksgiving Exhibition for God and My Friends in Sweden," making his debut as a painter at the age of 80.

그림 외에도 그는 스웨덴 생활에서 느낀 여러 심경과 새로운 문화 속에서 경험한 다채로운 이야기들을 시와 수필에 담아냈다.
Beyond painting, he expressed his reflections on life in Sweden and his experiences with a new culture through poetry and essays.
그의 전시회는 그림뿐 아니라 화가가 직접 쓴 시와 작곡한 음악이 어우러져, 다채롭고 몰입감 있는 예술적 경험을 제공한다.
